Ever had those days where it feels like people are trying to push your buttons? It’s almost like they’re testing you, waiting for you to crack. But here’s the real power move: not being moved at all. Imagine the strength in choosing not to react, in holding your peace even when others are intent on disturbing it.
The Strength of Silence
Part of mastering this art is recognizing the immense power in silence. When someone pokes at you, trying to get a rise, responding with calm and quiet can be the most powerful response. Silence isn’t weakness; it’s choosing not to add gasoline to their fire. When you refuse to engage in the negativity, their flame eventually burns out.
Words of Life, Not Death
Choosing to speak life instead of death into people is a deliberate, powerful act. It’s easy to lash out when provoked, but it takes real strength to hold your tongue. Remember, words have the power to build or destroy lives. By not reacting, you’re not just preserving your peace, but also maintaining your integrity. I know they probably really deserve it. And, you will feel justified and satisfied immediately. However, in the long-run it is not worth the effort of energy of getting out of character. Sometimes you even wonder that if I don’t tell them, how will they know? Well, use your discernment on when and how a conversation can be had where it will be better received. And note that some people will never get it. That may indicate the end of a relationship or communication. A choice between peace or toxicity may come to a head. Choose wisely!
Maintaining Composure
Keep your composure and smile in the face of adversity. This isn’t about pretending everything is okay but recognizing the enemy’s attack on your peace and choosing not to give in. Ignore the names they call you and the falsehoods they want you to accept. Their goal is to assassinate your character. It’s not their opinion of you that matters; it’s your own self-belief.
Being the Bigger Person
Sometimes, people want to stick around just to remind you of their negative opinions. But their presence doesn’t define you. You can always choose to be the bigger person. Focus on the truth, and that truth is found in the word of God. Believe what He says about you, and let that guide your actions and reactions.
Final Thoughts
Every day, make the conscious choice to be a joy junkie on purpose. Don’t let others steal your joy or your peace. Stand firm, unmovable, and grounded in the truth of who you are and who you are meant to be.
Have an awesome day, and remember, your strength lies in your ability to stay unmoved.
Joy Junkie!
