Let’s talk about it—what do you do when your internal spark feels dim, and the people and places around you aren’t helping to reignite it?
I know I’ve talked before about how everybody can’t be broke at the same time—somebody has to be in a financial position to hold it down. Well, this is the same thing, just on an emotional and mental level. Everybody can’t be broken at the same time. Somebody has to be strong enough to uplift, encourage, and keep things steady until the other person can get back on their feet.
“Sometimes a Rock Needs a Rock”
I had a conversation today with a prospective networker, and she said something that really stuck with me. We were talking about mental and emotional health, and she said, “Sometimes a rock needs a rock.” Then she looked at me and said, “You seem like a rock, so I believe you can relate.”
Whew.
That hit me deep because, if I’m being honest, I AM a rock. And if you’re reading this, you probably are too.
We are the ones people lean on. The ones who stay solid, who keep pushing, who don’t have the luxury of falling apart because somebody depends on us.
But even rocks get thrown. They get scratched, chipped, rolled around, and worn down over time. And sometimes, a rock needs another rock to help smooth out the rough edges.
It’s Okay to Need Refinement
Being strong doesn’t mean you never need help. It doesn’t mean you don’t get tired. It just means you keep showing up. But showing up doesn’t mean ignoring yourself.
Sometimes, you need to be placed in the water.
🌊 To cool off.
🌊 To rinse away the buildup of stress and exhaustion.
🌊 To relax, breathe, and get back to center.
🌊 To be buffed and polished so you can regain your shine.
How to Keep Your Spark When Life Isn’t Helping
So what do you do when your fire is running low? When your strength feels more like a burden than a blessing?
- Find your rock. – That might be a mentor, a friend, a coach, or even a book or podcast that speaks life into you.
- Step away from draining environments. – If your space isn’t feeding you, it’s depleting you. Take intentional breaks.
- Do something that refuels you. – Whether it’s rest, creativity, movement, or solitude—whatever brings you back to yourself, do that.
- Speak life over yourself. – If nobody else is doing it, you be the one. Remind yourself of who you are.
- Let yourself breathe. – You don’t have to hold everything together 24/7. It’s okay to pause.
Keep Holding On
You are strong, but you are also human—and even the strongest need restoration. Find your water. Find your rock. Find whatever helps you reset and shine again.
Because you weren’t just made to be strong—you were made to thrive. 💎✨
