Let’s dive into a little heart-to-heart about something we could all use more of – stillness. In this crazy, fast-paced world, taking a breather and just being is like hitting the reset button. Now, why am I all about this stillness thing? Well, let me spill the beans.

Life feels like a never-ending sprint, right? Racing from one thing to the next, chasing dreams, ticking off to-dos. But hold up – even race cars need a pit stop. Stillness is our pit stop, a chance to refuel, check the map, and ensure we’re on the right track.

Rest, Recharge, Reflect

Being still isn’t about slacking off; it’s about being savvy. It’s like giving your soul a power nap. Your phone needs charging to perform its best, and guess what? So do you. Resting isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a strategic move to come back stronger.

Now, let’s get to the heart of it. In those quiet moments, when the world settles down, that’s when you can hear the whispers of the divine. I call it God – my direct line to heavenly advice. Whether you’re Christian, spiritual, or just curious, creating space for divine downloads is like getting the inside scoop on your next move.

The Bible’s full of wisdom about being still, seeking God’s guidance, and trusting the journey. Psalm 46:10 puts it beautifully: “Be still and know that I am God.” Simple, yet profound.

How to Embrace Stillness

  1. Schedule it In:
    Treat stillness like an appointment with a friend. Put it in your calendar, set a reminder, and show up. Your mental and spiritual well-being will thank you.
  2. Create a Quiet Spot:
    Find a spot that feels peaceful – maybe it’s a comfy chair, a quiet room, or even your backyard. Make it your sacred space for stillness.
  3. Unplug:
    The world can wait. Turn off the noise – both the literal and digital distractions.
  4. Breathe Deep:
    Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let it out slowly. Repeat. It’s like a moment of communion with God.
  5. Trust the Process:
    Stillness isn’t about instant answers. It’s about trust. Trust that in the quiet, you’ll find the wisdom and direction you seek. Let’s face it, some of us are scared to be still and quiet because we are afraid of what we might find out. I admit I get like that sometimes. I don’t want to reflect on loss, grief, toxicity, doubt and etc. It’s amazing that when you get quiet by default you get reminded of the past pain and things that rubbed you the wrong way. But what if you channeled the energy to think on the following:
    • There are several verses in the Bible that provide guidance on what believers should focus their thoughts on. Here are a few:
      • Philippians 4:8 (NIV): “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
      • Colossians 3:2 (NIV): “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
      • Romans 12:2 (NIV): “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
      • 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV): “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
      • Isaiah 26:3 (NIV): “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.”
    • These verses highlight the importance of focusing on thoughts that align with God’s truth, righteousness, and goodness, and avoiding negative or worldly thinking. The Bible encourages believers to renew their minds and set their thoughts on heavenly things. Have faith and trust the process!
