First of all, thank you all for getting JOY WASTED with me! It’s been a journey! So, let me go ahead and tell you right up front: joy is not just some cute spiritual fruit floating around in Scripture like a decorative garnish. Joy is a weapon. A whole spiritual sword. A shield. A strategy. A secret advantage. And when you really understand it, baby, your whole way of navigating life shifts.
And listen, I had to learn this the real way. Not the Pinterest way. Not the “Sunday‑morning‑church‑smile” way. I mean the I‑can’t‑even‑get‑myself‑together-today kind of way. That’s where the revelation hits different.
So, follow my notes as we prepare to be spiritually disrespectful to the enemy!
1. Joy is a weapon because it strengthens you when you should be weak.
I don’t know about you, but the days I EXPECT myself to push at 120%, life sometimes says,
“No ma’am… today you’re running on 36%.” – Chile, my 40ish be acting up something terrible!
Joy is the thing God sneaks into your spirit that lets you stand up anyway – I’m thankful for that!
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” — Nehemiah 8:10
Notice it didn’t say:
- the coffee of the Lord
- the motivation of the Lord
- the perfect circumstances of the Lord
Nope.
JOY.
Joy is spiritual muscle.
Joy is divine reinforcement.
Joy is the reason you didn’t fall apart even when you had every reason to.
2. Joy is a weapon because it PUSHES BACK darkness.
You know that heaviness that tries to sit on your chest sometimes?
That fog that follows you around the house?
That mental overwhelm that makes you question everything?
Joy is the thing that says: “Not today.”
Joy literally changes the atmosphere.
It brings LIGHT.
Darkness can’t stay where joy shows up — it has to back up and retreat.
That’s why the enemy wants your joy first…
because if he can take your joy, he can drain your strength.
3. Joy is a weapon because it keeps your mind from believing the lies.
Let’s be real — when you’re tired, the devil gets bold.
He starts whispering:
- “You’re not enough.”
- “You’re dropping the ball.”
- “You’re failing.”
- “Everybody else has it together but you.”
Joy shuts ALL that down.
Joy is like: “Actually, I’m covered. I’m chosen. I’m equipped. And God ain’t leave me hanging.”
Joy stabilizes your thoughts so your mind doesn’t spiral into nonsense.
That’s warfare.
That’s protection.
That’s a weapon.
4. Joy is a weapon because it’s untouchable.
See, happiness?
You can steal that with one bad phone call.
But joy?
True, God‑given joy?
Untouchable. Secured. Child‑locked. Holy‑Ghost‑encrypted.
Jesus literally said: “No one will take your joy from you.” — John 16:22
You hear that?
NO. ONE.
Not a coworker.
Not a supervisor.
Not a diagnosis.
Not a disappointment.
Not a delay.
Not the enemy.
Joy is protected property.
5. Joy is a weapon because it holds you together in seasons that should break you.
Let me tell you something:
If you’re still standing after everything you’ve carried — the invisible load, the emotional labor, the leadership weight, the mom responsibilities, the job expectations — that’s JOY doing CPR on your spirit.
Joy is the reason you’re still functioning.
Joy is the reason you still show up.
Joy is the reason you still believe God.
Joy is the reason you didn’t quit that day you really wanted to.
Joy is endurance.
Joy is survival.
Joy is holy resilience.
6. Joy is a weapon because it lifts you above the nonsense.
You ever been in a situation where everything was a mess, but inside you felt… steady?
Like: “Yeah, this is wild, but God’s got me.”
That’s joy.
Joy lifts you when life tries to pull you under.
Joy lets you rise instead of sink.
That right there is spiritual resistance.
7. Joy is a weapon because it’s proof that God is working — even when life isn’t.
Joy is not self‑help.
It’s not “positive vibes.”
It’s not personality.
Joy is evidence.
Evidence that the Holy Spirit is active.
Evidence that God is present.
Evidence that you’re being carried.
Evidence that your spirit is anchored deeper than your circumstances.
When people look at you and wonder how you’re still smiling, still showing up, still leading, still creating, still loving…
That’s JOY.
And that’s GOD.
8. Joy confuses the enemy.
The enemy expects you to:
- crumble
- complain
- retreat
- fold
- give up
But when you choose joy, even in the mess?
He gets confused.
Joy tells the enemy: “I see what you tried.
Didn’t work.
Try again next time.”
Joy is spiritual disrespect — in the BEST way.
It flips the script on the enemy’s strategy.
9. Joy aligns you with heaven.
Heaven is full of joy.
Joy is the frequency of the Kingdom.
Joy puts you back in spiritual alignment.
When you choose joy:
- your discernment sharpens
- your peace returns
- your clarity comes back
- your hope rises
- your spirit strengthens
It’s not emotional.
It’s positional.
So yes — joy is a weapon. A big one. A powerful one. A God‑given one.
And listen… whether your day is firing on all cylinders or sputtering in the wind, JOY is the thing that keeps you spiritually alive.
Joy is how you fight.
Joy is how you endure.
Joy is how you outlast the attacks you don’t talk about.
Joy is how you stay YOU even when life tries to change you.
Joy is your advantage.
Joy is your strength.
Joy is your secret weapon.
And trust me — when you guard your joy?
You walk in a level of spiritual power that the enemy can’t touch.
