How to Know When It’s Time to Make Your Next Move

Let me tell you something — life will start tapping you on the shoulder when it’s time to make a change. But if you keep ignoring that tap? Oh baby, it will start shaking your whole table until you have to move.

Sometimes it’s not a dramatic sign from the heavens. It’s little things. That uneasy feeling you get when you walk into work. That heaviness you feel when you wake up in the morning. That “I’m over it” sigh you’ve been doing five times a day without even noticing.

See, your spirit will start giving you hints way before your situation blows up. It’ll start whispering, “This chapter is done. It’s time for the next one.” But we ignore it because moving on feels scary. We like the comfort of what we know — even if what we know is stressing us out.

Here’s how you know it’s time for your next move:

  1. You’ve stopped growing.
If you’re not learning, stretching, or being challenged, you’re just standing still. And standing still too long turns into sinking.
  2. You keep daydreaming about something else.
Your mind keeps wandering to other opportunities, other places, other versions of you. That’s not random — that’s your vision pulling you forward.
  3. You’re more drained than fulfilled.
We all have hard days, but if your bad days outnumber your good ones on a regular basis, that’s not a rough patch… that’s a sign.
  4. Opportunities keep showing up that don’t fit your “now” but fit your “next.”
Pay attention when doors start opening that line up with where you want to go. That’s alignment knocking.

The truth? Your next move might not be comfortable, but it will be worth it. Don’t wait for things to get so bad that you’re forced to leap — start moving when you feel the shift, not when the shift slaps you in the face.

Because here’s the thing: God will never take you from something without taking you to something. But you’ve got to be willing to walk out of the old room so He can open the next door.

So check your signs. Check your spirit. And if you’re feeling that nudge? Honey, it might be time to pack up and step into your “next.”
