Tell Your Story First. It Takes Away Their Power.

Have you ever noticed that the moment you start winning, somebody suddenly becomes a historian?

The minute you stand ten toes down in your purpose…

The second you step into a blessing…

The moment God begins elevating you…

The moment you decide to stand in the gap for someone else…

The moment you start walking boldly in who God called you to be…

Here come the dream killers.

Not with congratulations.

Not with encouragement.

Not with support.

No.

They show up carrying receipts from a version of you that no longer exists.

“Remember when…”

“Ain’t that the one who…”

“Didn’t she used to…”

“Weren’t they the person who…”

And they say it like they’re exposing some great mystery.

Let me save you some stress.

SO WHAT?

Matter of fact, help them tell it.

“Oh, you forgot a chapter. Let me finish the story for you.”

Yes, I made mistakes.

Yes, I fell short.

Yes, I got some things wrong.

Yes, I took some detours.

Yes, I had moments I am not proud of.

And guess what?

God still blessed me.

I love when people try to weaponize my past because all they’re really doing is reminding me how far God has brought me.

The same story they are using to discredit you is actually evidence of God’s grace.

The same chapter they are exposing is proof of your growth.

The same scars they are pointing at are reminders that you survived.

People who are uncomfortable with your growth often become obsessed with your history.

Because if they can keep you looking backward, they hope you’ll never fully walk forward.

But here’s the secret:

When you tell your story first, nobody can use it against you.

Why?

Because shame thrives in secrecy.

The moment you own your testimony, shame loses its microphone.

The moment you bring your struggle into the light, darkness loses its power.

You don’t have to hide what God healed.

You don’t have to cover what God delivered you from.

You don’t have to apologize for overcoming.

In fact, some of the very things you wish never happened are the things that make you qualified to help someone else.

Your heartbreak may help somebody heal.

Your financial struggles may help somebody rebuild.

Your mistakes may help somebody avoid the same pitfall.

Your grief may help somebody survive theirs.

Your setbacks may become somebody else’s roadmap to victory.

What some people call baggage, God calls experience.

What some people call failure, God calls preparation.

What some people call your past, God calls your testimony.

They’re Watching Reruns While You’re Living New Episodes

Here’s something else to keep in mind.

The people who keep bringing up your past only have access to old movie clips.

They’re sitting around watching reruns.

Over.

And over.

And over again.

The funny part is they’re acting like they have exclusive information, but all they really have is old footage.

They’re replaying scenes that you’ve already graduated from.

They’re quoting lines from a version of you that no longer exists.

They’re stuck in a chapter you’ve already finished reading.

Meanwhile, God is writing brand-new pages.

They’re trying to make people believe they know you because they watched Season One.

But they have no clue what’s happening in Season Ten.

And that’s okay.

Let them stay there.

Because while they’re busy rewatching reruns, you’re living premieres.

The reason they can’t tell your future is simple:

You haven’t invited them there.

They don’t have access to where God is taking you.

They weren’t in the room when God gave you the vision.

They weren’t on the call when Heaven approved your next assignment.

They weren’t present when God spoke purpose over your life.

They’re trying to predict your future using outdated footage.

And that is impossible.

Because grace changed the script.

Growth changed the script.

Healing changed the script.

God changed the script.

So don’t get bothered when people bring up your past.

Smile.

Nod.

Then remember that the only place they can find ammunition is in a season you’ve already survived.

They’re stuck in YOUR past.

Exactly where they belong.

Meanwhile, you’re focused on your future.

The future they can’t see.

The future they can’t predict.

The future they can’t stop.

The future they can’t access.

Because God didn’t give them a ticket to that show.

Thank God for the Past

I am thankful for my past.

Not because it was always easy.

Not because I enjoyed every lesson.

Not because every season felt good.

But because it helped create the diamond I’ve become.

Every challenge.

Every disappointment.

Every tear.

Every lesson.

Every failure.

Every comeback.

Every storm.

It all helped shape me.

I’ve been washed.

I’ve been cleaned.

I’ve been polished.

I’ve been refined.

And now I shine brighter than ever before.

The victory isn’t that I never went through anything.

The victory is that I came through it.

The victory is that I survived it.

The victory is that I learned from it.

The victory is that God didn’t leave me there.

So yes…

I WAS those things.

I WAS that person.

I DID make those mistakes.

I DID have those struggles.

But that’s not who I am anymore.

And because I experienced those things, now I can help someone else overcome them.

I can help somebody heal.

I can help somebody grow.

I can help somebody become the best version of themselves.

There is no shame in my testimony.

My testimony is proof that God still transforms lives.

So the next time somebody tries to use your yesterday to discredit your today, don’t get angry.

Don’t become defensive.

Don’t shrink.

Stand tall.

Smile.

Own your story.

Then look them in the eye and say:

“Thank you for reminding everyone how far I’ve come.”

“I survived that.”

“I grew from that.”

“I learned from that.”

“And I got the victory over ALL THAT.”

Then walk away with that look on your face like you just dropped the microphone.

Because while they’re talking about who you were…

God is blessing who you’ve become.

And while they’re busy watching reruns…

You’re busy living the next episode.

So go ahead…

RUN. TELL. THAT. 🎤💎

Because after all God has brought me through, there isn’t a person alive who can tell my story better than me.

And there definitely isn’t anyone who can tell my future.

I haven’t invited them there.
